I Thought I Was Gonna Die

So--
About nine days after munching on the panela cheese we bought in El Tuito, the following happened--
May 11, Wednesday evening about 9:30pm, Bob was in the shower as I already had taken mine. Out of nowhere, one minute I'm fine-the next, I'm running down the stairs to the bathroom to vomit. (There's nothing groser than trying to take a leisurely shower and having puke smells wafting through. Believe me, I did Bob a big favor---). Well, I didn't stop with one session. This went on until the dry heaves hit at about 4:40am which absolutely froze my abdomen muscles to the point that I thought I was going to die. I couldn't get a breath in. I told God, please--help me. I'll be good, I'll stop all my heathen ways, I'll take care of myself and love myself---Well, I got a breath in-- and slept until 5:30pm the next afternoon. Then fell back asleep until noon the next day. By Saturday, I was still feeling shitty, and now Bob starts to get sick and does the Sleeping Beauty Thing as well. He illness manifests from the other end, and he's out of commission. Finally on Sunday morning, we can't take it. We drive to Farmacia Similar and get parasite pills, and this finally clears up three days later.

WARNING: Be careful with dairy products. And also--it's not a good idea to be "taco stand","cocina economica", and "torta ahogadas" whores like us. For some reason, it's our favorite kind of food. It's so deliciously mexican and full of flavor that I cannot replicate.
So after that mess, I stopped smoking until today--almost two weeks smoke free--I will write about my brief relapse--(only for today)--later.

Really, it feels good not smoking--and it does stink.

El Tuito and Other Boring Stuff

I'm always surprised, though I shouldn't be--why is it that all the yummy descriptions on the internet to go here and there totally blow and actually really suck???

So we go to El Tuito---------"Holy shit"... "Killer place"..."Check out the panela cheese lady on the square"... "Great cultural center restored to a home from the 1600's"...

OH YEAH--??? No WAY , CHUCK--

First off- the Cultural Center was closed. Thank God, bathrooms were open. ( I learned to always carry napkins--no tp which is no surprise .)

Here is an incredible mural on the wall. It's really beautiful and flows through the entire four walls heading up. I don't do it justice at all.

Then we head off to the cheese lady. We spot a woman in the square that looks JUST like Panela Cheese Lady (from the internet)--she tells us, " Yes, that's me--but I have no cheese." "Go down this block , turn left and go to the wooden door with black rails"... Heh--Okay, we're thinking, we'll find it later-

Chow time-- We go a a little place on the square where we see two guys eating something that looks to me totally DELISH!!!
I ordered the birria de res, and Bob, the costillas de cerdo en salsa verde. Let me say this---the best places in Mexico to eat are the little family owned places. We had two incredible meals and the tortillas were huge, burrito size and made of blue corn... more food than I needed, but I ate every last bit. AND super cheap---

Then we went to the other cheese lady-- $50 peseos later we're walking out with a huge round of panela cheese, which-we just used up today. It isn't a melting cheese, but will soften. It adds huge flavor to everything. I've put it in omelettes, quesadillas, tacos, potatoes, etc--good stuff---

Now grabbing the bus back was a nightmare--- We sat in the main square thinking to catch it where it left us off-- OH NO-- Though there we met a very friendly English speaking dude... I mean really friendly, so I know he wants something. Well, he comes over all friendly, english and all---where are we from, blah, blah---we see that he has a baby parrot on his shoulder and has Bob put the parrot on his shoulder. Meantime--Senor Slick is making small talk --whatever--Then here it comes.... " I sell you my parrot for almost free---only two hundred pesos..." I'm thinking--(Hum-- a parrot could be cool, it's not like a dog, --low maintenance...)... Bob says right away, "NO thanks , Dude." And then I do notice Dude has green bird shit all over his shirt. ---I guess not.

We finally got to the actual bus stop after over an hour and a half later although we asked our original bus driver, two store keepers, a kid hawking comforters, some old guy on the corner---finally, we were directed to the corner across from the church.
It felt so good to get home--

I have more stuff--tomorrow

I Miss

My baby--Ratzo--she was rescue dog--adopted from the Perrieria in Villa De Alvarez---I miss her so much it hurts me

Luna-- This is Bob's girlfriend--She loves him more than anything--

Here's Snaggy--found him over a year ago hanging around, probably looking for the family that abandonded over Semana Sants 2010. We made him part of our family for almost a year.

It really does hurt my heart big time. I'm weary about getting another pet --I would like to bring my babies here., but this neighborhood is not very friendly to new dogs or innocents--like ours. They ran free on the dusty streets and on the beach--they were free to hang out---

I just really weep for them--It's a kind of inside thing I do--

No one knows

Our House

Hi All-

For those that have not seen the new home yet, here are some photos---

58 STEPS FROM STREET TO HOUSE

KITCHEN
LIVING AND DINING ROOM

OUR BEDROOM
Pretty much, except for the view

The really nice thing about the house is that it has been very cool, even during the day; at night- it's so pleasant, even for my menopausal self. (These new hormone pills I bought at discount rates from my buddy in Almeria don't seem to be doing the job as well as the name brand I was buying for four times the price- I've been getting hot flashes again after a whole year of total relief. It truly sucks to be me right now... I suppose it sucks to be Bob more---whatever--

Have photos from our little trip to El Tulito--will publish those next round...

Safe passage to my Bud going home to Davis--I'll be in touch-
